    香港中文大学（深圳）人文社科学院创立于2014年，至今已有八年的历史。其间，学院上下求索，精诚而拓，致力于打造多领域、高质量的课程项目。截至目前，学院共开设三个本科专业、六个硕士研究生课程和三个博士研究生课程。本科招生专业开设了翻译、应用心理学、英语三个专业。新学期将至，学院邀请到各个本科专业的优秀教师开设公开课堂，让大家提前体验全英教学的真实课堂，近距离领略各学科的魅力，精彩不容错过！

    夏思宸博士现任香港中文大学（深圳）英语专业讲师。本科与硕士毕业于武汉大学，博士毕业于香港城市大学，持有中华人民共和国司法部颁发的法律职业资格证书。她是亚太专门用途语言与行业沟通协会（Asia-Pacific Language for Specific Purposes & Professional Communication Association）学术年报的主编。她的主要研究领域包括专门用途英语、体裁分析、多模态话语分析、科普沟通和数字素养。

课程简介

What is your view on language? We use language to convey messages and perform everyday tasks. It is so commonly used in our daily life that it is easy to overlook how special it is. Language is the principal method of human communication, consisting of words used in a conventional and structured way. More importantly, your language use is unique, creating a kind of “linguistic fingerprint” that differentiates you from others. This feature of language has allowed it to be helpful in the legal context, particularly in solving crimes. In this one-hour Open Course, I will demonstrate the power of language analysis in helping demystify puzzling crimes. I will use examples to illustrate how interesting and complex language is and how powerful a resource it can be when it enters the arena of law. We will have case studies and hands-on analysis of crime texts together. I also use this Open Course to share how I became interested in linguistics - the study of language - in the first place. Ultimately, I want to argue that studying language and communication can solve real-life problems, and you can make a difference with the toolkits provided by linguistics. 

语言有什么用处？我们每天都会用语言传递信息、开展工作。因为所用太过广泛，人们便常忽视语言的特别之处。作为人类最重要的交流工具，语言遵循一定习惯构词成句。更特别的是，每个人的用语习惯各不相同，于是便有了可以识人辨人的“语言指纹”。正因其独特性，语言在法律范畴、尤其是破案时大有用处。在本节一小时公开课堂中，我会带领各位分析犯罪案件文本，通过具体案例感受用语分析在破解悬案中的重要作用，以此展现语言的复杂性、趣味性，以及在法律领域作为有力依据的重要性。在本堂公开课之始，我也会分享自己与语言学结缘、爱上语言研究的经历。最后，我希望借由公开课分享自己对语言学的看法：研究语言及沟通机制并非无用，相反，这类研究可以解决实际问题，语言学家也可以让人们的生活大有不同。
